6/11/98 ARABS & ISRAEL 1867: Assassination Update

STUNNING NEW EVIDENCE OF ASSASSINATION CONSPIRACY

A computer expert compared the Kempler film of the shooting with the still photographs derived from it and released to the public. The Kempler film shows an almond-shaped flash from Amir's gun;the still photograph's flash is round. A round flash comes from a real bullet; an almond-shaped flash comes from a blank.

The still photo had Amir's arm closer to Rabin. That made its distance consistent with forensic findings of being shot at point blank.

The Kempler film shows a man on Rabin's right, whose hand seems to be touching his neck. That man was cropped out of the still photo.

The original film shows Rabin shot by a blank, not at close range, and with the unknown man nearer Rabin than the accused killer. Why was the public shown a photo which has Rabin shot by a real bullet, at close range, by Amir, and without theunidentified man? (Barry Chamish, e-mail, 6/8).

This new evidence bolster's the theory that the assassination hoax which Amir was put up to was taken advantage of by a real assassin.

The perpetrator and the motive remain a elusive. The government went right on to blame the right wing for the real slaying as it had intended to do with Amir's phony attempt. To do so, it had to cover up the real crime.

Who committed the real crime? If the government didn't know, then it would be willing to let Amir and the Right take theblame. But it seems difficult to imagine that the government doesn't know, since there was someone waiting in Rabin's car, probably the killer, seen by driver and guard. That man was with Rabin during at least part of the brief but suspiciously circumlocuitous ride to the hospital, where a truly wounded Rabin was delivered.

If that mystery man were right wing, the government would have let him take the major blame and minimize Amir's role, to shift attention away from Amir's circumstances not fitting the crime but fitting the government's use of agents provocateurs.

Therefore, the killer probably was not right wing or Orthodox.

If he were left wing, American, or Arab, the left-wing government might cover up. But what motive might those factions have had? Rabin was going along with Oslo, even if reluctantly at times. The more reluctant, the more credible his inevitable acquiescence. (Like Netanyahu?)

Rabin did have a rival, Peres. Did Peres so crave the premier political position in Israel and a faster pace for Oslo? Did he fear that, with Rabin sinking in the polls, another Labor candidate was needed? Well, the assassination hoax was designed to boost Labor in the polls. No need for a real murder.

We don't know the full story. We do know that there was a hoax, a frame-up, and a cover-up. The evidence suggests a wider and wider plot with powerful officials suborning evidence, witnesses, and the investigation. We keep learning more but we may never learn the whole truth until the whole people demand it, regardless of who will be inculpated.

Meanwhile, I think of Rabin's former Security Chief, Carmi Gillon, involved in the Rabin campaign's dirty tricks and in charge of those involved in the hoax. He was never brought to account by the investigatory commission on which his brother sat. He still writes in the "NY Times." His advice on critica lsecurity matters would put the Arabs in a position to murder more Jews.

I also think of left wing people who sincerely mourn Rabin.Don't they want to learn the truth or would they rather not hear that Rabin was an unwitting accomplice in his own assassination? I think that this goes beyond left-wing and right-wing to theintegrity of the State. It is time to call a halt to politicians' most unscrupulous behavior.
